There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Indios (3-7) outplayed one of their biggest challengers Mets (4-4) in Mayaguez 102-76 on Monday. Indios looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by the former international guard Jaysean Paige (188-1994, college: WVU) who scored that evening 25 points and naturalized Nicaraguan guard Jared Ruiz (188-1992) supported him with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Indios players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 7 rebounds by the former international forward Renaldo Balkman (201-1984, college: S.Carolina) did not help to save the game for Mets. American guard Jeff Early Jr (190-1988, college: SIU) added 18 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Indios have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with San German. Mets at the other side keep the third position with four games lost. Indios will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mets will play against the league's leader Cariduros in Fajardo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
