There was a small surprise in Guaynabo where second ranked Mets (6-5) beat their close opponent Leones (7-4) 115-97 on Sunday. Mets made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Mets outrebounded Leones 37-26 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American center Zachary Hankins (211-1996, college: Xavier) scored 29 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Ben Moore (203-1995, college: SMU) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side American Jarrell Brantley (201-1996, college: Charleston) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and the former international Michael Rosario (190-1990, college: Florida) scored 13 points. Five Mets and four Leones players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mets maintains second position with 6-5 record behind leader Quebradillas which they share with defeated Leones. Loser Leones keep the second place with four games lost. Mets will meet league's leader Vaqueros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Leones will play against the league's leader Piratas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
