Everything went according to plan in Quebradillas where first ranked Piratas (10-4) beat 3rd ranked Leones (8-5) 95-87 on Saturday. Piratas forced 21 Leones turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Gary Browne (185-1993, college: WVU) who scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Naturalized American forward Phillip Wheeler (204-2002) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) who recorded 20 points and American center Marvin Jones (213-1993, college: Texas Southern, agency: Network Sports International) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Leones' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Piratas maintains first position with 10-4 record. Loser Leones keep the third place with five games lost. Piratas will meet league's leader Vaqueros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Leones will play against Grises and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
