The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of Leones (12-7) in Bayamon on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by Vaqueros (13-5) 106-93. Vaqueros outrebounded Leones 40-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American power forward Dewan Hernandez (211-1997, college: Miami, FL) fired 37 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the winners. The former international point guard Angel Rodriguez (180-1992, college: Miami, FL) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. American-South Sudanese Nuni Omot (206-1994, college: Baylor) produced 17 points and 5 assists and American center Marvin Jones (213-1993, college: Texas Southern, agency: Network Sports International) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Leones' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Vaqueros have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-5 record which they share with defeated Leones. Leones at the other side still keep top place with seven games lost. They share the position with Quebradillas. Vaqueros are looking forward to face Brujos (#6) in Guayama in the next round where they are favorite. Leones will play at home against the league's second-placed Cariduros (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
