Very important is a road loss of second ranked Leones (18-13) against fourth ranked Gigantes (12-17) on Wednesday night. Visiting Leones were defeated by Gigantes in a tough game in Carolina 109-113. Gigantes made 31-of-41 free shots (75.6 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Sheldon McClellan (196-1992, college: Miami, FL) who scored 35 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. The other American import point guard Tremont Waters (180-1998, college: LSU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American-South Sudanese Nuni Omot (206-1994, college: Baylor) who recorded 27 points and the former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) added 24 points and 4 assists respectively. Four Gigantes and five Leones players scored in double figures. Leones' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gigantes maintains fourth position with 12-17 record. Loser Leones keep the second place with 13 games lost. Gigantes will meet league's second-placed Cangrejeros in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Leones will have a break next round.
