Top ranked Cangrejeras (5-3) recorded its third loss in Santurce on Monday night. Hosts were rolled over by top-ranked Atenienses (3-0) 90-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cangrejeras. They outrebounded Cangrejeras 52-26 including a 38-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. American swingman Kaela Davis (188-1995, college: S.Carolina) fired 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) for the winners. The other American import guard Linnae Harper (175-1995, college: Ohio St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Atenienses players scored in double figures. American guard Whitney Knight (191-1993, college: FGCU) produced 13 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Ashley Torres (170-1995, college: Highland, KS) added 15 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Atenienses have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 3-0 record having seven points less than leader Santurce. Cangrejeras at the other side still keep top place with three games lost. Atenienses are looking forward to face Montaneras (#3) in Morovis in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Cangrejeras will play on the road against Gigantes in Carolina and are hoping to win this game.
