There was a minor upset in Guaynabo where their close opponent Leones (7-11) were defeated by fifth ranked Mets (8-9) 86-70 on Monday. Mets outrebounded Leones 53-29 including a 20-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Brazilian-American center Tim Soares (211-1997, college: Master's) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. The former international point guard Gary Browne (185-1993, college: WVU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Mets players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) who recorded 20 points and 7 assists and American swingman Lance Stephenson (196-1990, college: Cincinnati) added 22 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mets moved-up to third place. Loser Leones keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. Mets will meet at home league's second-placed Gigantes in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Leones will play against Cangrejeros in Santurce and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
