Atenienses crushed at home Lares by 41 points 111-70, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. Atenienses dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Lares' 42. They outrebounded Lares 47-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. Atenienses looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Lares' players. American forward Shae Kelley (185-1991, college: Minnesota) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Ashley Torres (170-1995, college: Highland, KS) chipped in 23 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Atenienses players scored in double figures. The former international guard Damika Martinez (170-1992, college: Iona) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and the former international guard Paola Maldonado (176-1999) added 22 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Atenienses will meet at home Montaneras in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Lares will play against Pollitas and hope to win that game.
