Caguas players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The former international power forward Alexander Kappos (208-1997, college: Dalhousie) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 6 rebounds. Panamanian-American center Akil Mitchell (206-1992, college: Virginia) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. American guard Kobi Simmons (196-1997, college: Arizona) replied with 24 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and his fellow American import forward Reggie Perry (208-2000, college: MSU) added 13 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Carolina. Four Carolina players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Caguas maintains fourth position with 8-9 record. Defending champion Carolina dropped to the third place with six games lost.
