The game had a very big importance for second-rankedAtleticos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Atleticos smashed leader Vaqueros in San German 94-71 . It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vaqueros. San German held Bayamon to an opponent 18.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.0 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Bayamon 44-25 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Andre Curbelo (183-2001, college: Southern Miss) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. American center Montrezl Harrell (203-1994, college: Louisville) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Four Atleticos players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Australian forward Xavier Cooks (203-1995, college: Winthrop) who recorded 11 points and 5 rebounds and the former international guard Gary Browne (185-1993, college: WVU) added 7 points and 5 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Atleticos have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. which they share with defeated Bayamon . Defending champion Bayamon still keeps top place with nine games lost.
