Regular Season Round 9: Remeros - Yale 53-15
Date: October 2, 2021
Rather expected game when 9th ranked Yale (3-4) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Remeros (5-3) 53-15 on Saturday. Remeros held Yale to an opponent 14.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 27.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Remeros forced 29 Yale turnovers and outrebounded them 52-31 including a 23-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Argentinian center Ornela Bacchini (188-89, college: OLLU) who scored 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international Gianina Tiscornia (166-2) chipped in 6 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Mariana Lema (-98) who recorded 4 points and forward Cinthia Mott (172-3) added 2 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Remeros. They moved-up to fifth place. Loser Yale dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Aguada. Remeros will meet at home higher ranked Hebraica (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Yale will play against Malvin (#4) in Montevideo and hope to secure a win.
