The biggest surprise of round 1 in Metropolitan took place in Montevideo where host Urunday crushed Capitol 87-68 on Friday evening. Urunday looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Urunday made 7 blocks. American swingman Anthony Hilliard (195-1986, college: ECSU) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. His fellow American import Tyrone Lee (203-1990, college: GVSU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Jacob Ledoux (190-1997, college: UTPB) produced 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and point guard Mateo Giano (186-2000) added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Five Urunday and four Capitol players scored in double figures. Capitol will play next round against strong Larranaga trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo - Larranaga. Urunday will try to continue on its current victory against Welcome. It will be extra interesting game as Welcome is their local rival from Montevideo.
