Second Stage Round 2: Sayago - Atenas 97-80

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Atenas' road loss to Sayago 80-97 on Monday. Sayago made 24-of-26 free shots (92.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sayago made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was American Rakim Brown (198-1991, college: Humboldt St.) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). The other American import forward King Revolution (206-1990, college: Southern, agency: BIG) chipped in 29 points and 5 rebounds. Sayago's coach German Fernandez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Venezuelan power forward Francisco Centeno (203-1985) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Joaquin Rodriguez (199-2003) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sayago will meet Tabare on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Atenas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Capitol.
