Second Stage Round 6: Malvin - Lagomar 72-55

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo:Malvin (#3) and Lagomar (#5). Malvin (9-3) smashed visiting Lagomar (5-8) by 17 points 72-55 . Malvin outrebounded Lagomar 40-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. Malvin looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for guard Carolina Fernandez (186-2003) who led her team to a victory with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Colombian forward Mabel Martinez (180-1986) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Belen Moreira (-1999) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and Paraguayan forward Natalia Quevedo (170-1998) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Lagomar. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Malvin moved-up to second place, which they share with Yale. Lagomar lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with eight games lost.
