Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo:Penarol (#1) and Aguada (#2). Penarol (24-6) won against visiting Aguada (20-9) 103-95 . Penarol made 25-of-28 charity shots (89.3 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Aguada was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Santiago Vescovi (191-2001, college: Tennessee) notched 21 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the effort and American point guard Norris Cole (188-1988, college: CSU) supported him with 14 points and 7 assists. Five Penarol players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) by Dominican center Luis Santos (203-1994, college: St.Louis) did not help to save the game for Aguada . point guard Juan Santiso (185-1994) added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Penarol maintains first position with 24-6 record. Aguada at the other side keeps the second place with nine games lost.
