The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Centauros (1-1) in Margarita on Friday night. Hosts were rolled over by Guaiqueries (3-0) 80-46. Guaiqueries held Centauros to an opponent 19.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 50.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Guaiqueries looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Centauros' players. It was a good game for international forward Jose Ascanio (204-96) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 5 rebounds. The former international power forward Francisco Centeno (203-85) contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Eduardo Rios (182-88) answered with 5 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Moises Teixeira (180-92) added 8 points in the effort for Centauros. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Guaiqueries will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Centauros will play on the road against Gladiadores in Caracas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
