Regular Season Round 3: Supersonicos - Centauros 73-83

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Margarita: Centauros (#5) and Supersonicos (#3). Supersonicos were defeated at home 73-83 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Centauros dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Supersonicos' 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Centauros made 8 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for the former international Jose Bracho (190-98) who led the winners and scored 7 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Eduardo Rios (182-88) accounted for 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. The former international forward Tulio Cobos (197-86, college: Northeastern St.) came up with 22 points and 7 rebounds and Evert Bernal (195-96) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Supersonicos in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Centauros will meet Gladiadores in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Supersonicos will play against Cangrejeros in Maturin and hope to win that game.
