Regular Season Round 11: Gigantes - Marinos 82-86

The game between third ranked Gigantes (3-2) and fifth ranked Marinos (2-4) was the most important one in the last round on Monday night. Gigantes were defeated by Marinos in a tough game in Puerto Ordaz 82-86. Marinos made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game, while Gigantes only scored six points from the stripe. The best player for the winners was American center Ronald Delph (213-1993, college: FAU) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. Greek swingman Kostas Vasileiadis (200-1984) chipped in 26 points. American center Jarred Shaw (208-1990, college: Utah St.) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Luis Duarte (190-1994) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Marinos moved-up to fourth place. Gigantes at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with Heroes. Marinos are looking forward to face league's leader Gladiadores in Caracas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gigantes will play at home against Cangrejeros and are hoping to win this game.
