Regular Season Round 22: Guaiqueries - Marinos 100-81

Very expected game when 5th ranked Marinos (2-9) were smashed by first ranked Guaiqueries (12-3) in Porlamar 100-81 on Monday. American guard Melvin Johnson (193-1993, college: VCU) notched 23 points to lead the effort and international point guard Heissler Guillent (186-1986) supported him with 9 points and 8 assists. Even a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Steve Taylor Jr. (206-1993, college: Toledo) did not help to save the game for Marinos. Nigerian-American guard George Williams (198-1990, college: WBU) added 17 points for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guaiqueries maintains first position with 12-3 record. Marinos lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with nine games lost. Guaiqueries will again meet at home Marinos (#5) in the next round. Marinos will have a break next round.
