Regular Season Round 3: Spartans - Diablos 76-77

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Caracas where Spartans (0-2) were edged by Diablos (1-2) 77-76 on Thursday. Diablos outrebounded Spartans 46-32 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Dominican forward Bayron Matos (206, college: S.Florida) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists. Dominican point guard Raimer Santana (183-1997) chipped in 22 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Will Davis II (203-1992, college: UC Irvine) who recorded 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Nelson Palacios (192-1992) added 14 points and 6 assists respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Diablos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Caracas Panteras.
