Rather predictable result in Maturin where third ranked Gigantes (3-4) edged 5th ranked Cangrejeros (1-6) 81-79 on Sunday. It was a great evening for American-Mexican forward Aaron Fuller (198-1989, college: USC, agency: Haylett Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Cruz Leon (172-1998) helped adding 14 points. At the losing side Dominican forward Rich Polanco (203-1997, college: S.Dakota) responded with 19 points and American guard Duke Mondy (193-1990, college: Oakland, agency: BIG) scored 20 points. Four Cangrejeros players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gigantes maintains third place with 3-4 record having just two points less than leader Piratas, which they share with Heroes and Centauros. Cangrejeros lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Llaneros. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
