No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Spartans (14-11) edged 10th ranked Cangrejeros (5-20) in Caracas 77-75 on Friday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Spartans made 9 blocks. Nelson Palacios (192-1992) notched 13 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the effort and American guard Ramon Galloway (190-1991, college: La Salle) supported him with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Four Spartans players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 31 points and 15 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) by Dominican forward Rich Polanco (203-1997, college: S.Dakota) did not help to save the game for Cangrejeros.
