GUSTAVO AYON
We bring you last week's top performances from Mexicans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Gustavo Ayon
Gustavo Ayon
#1. This week's number one is an experienced international center Gustavo Ayon (207-85, college: SJSU, currently plays in Spain). He led Real Madrid to an easy victory against the 14th-ranked Movil Estudiantes (10-20) 109-92 in a derby game in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Thursday night's game. Ayon recorded 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 20 minutes on the court. Real Madrid (25-5) is placed first in the Liga Endesa. It was his team's 11th consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Ayon's fifth season with the team. This year he averages: 7.5ppg, 6.7rpg, 2.4apg, 2FGP: 62.9%(73-116) in 23 games he played so far. Ayon is currently a member of the Mexican senior national team.

Alexander Perez Kaufmann
Alexander Perez Kaufmann
#2. Second place goes to an international point guard Alexander Perez Kaufmann (191-93, agency: Pro Sports, currently plays in Turkey). He led Banvit to a victory against the second-ranked Fenerbahce (22-4) 78-70 in the Turkish BSL last Saturday. Perez Kaufmann scored 16 points and added 5 assists. Banvit Basketbol Kulubu (14-13) is placed eighth in the BSL. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Perez Kaufmann has relatively good stats this season: 14.9ppg, 2.8rpg, 5.5apg, 2FGP: 55.1%(98-178), 3FGP: 36.2% and FT: 84.4%. Ex-Soles de Mexicali player is in the roster of the Mexican senior national team.

Paul Stoll
Paul Stoll
#3. The Mexican player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Paul Stoll (180-85, currently plays in Israel). He was the major contributor in a Maccabi Ashdod's victory against the eighth-ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (13-17) 101-92 in the Israeli Winner League on Monday night. Stoll scored 19 points, made 5 passes and 6 steals (went 6 for 6 at the free throw line) in 30 minutes. Maccabi Ashdod/Be'er Tuvia (17-6) is placed first in the Winner League. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. It's Stoll's first season with the team. He has individually a very good year with high stats. Stoll averages: 15.6ppg, 3.4rpg, 7.4apg, 3.0spg, 2FGP: 55.3%(47-85), 3FGP: 34.9% and FT: 85.4% in 27 games. He is a naturalized American. Stoll is also a member of the Mexican senior national team. He used to play for Algodoneros de La Comarca - Torreon in Mexican league.

Francisco Cruz
Francisco Cruz
#4. Guard Francisco Cruz (190-89, college: Wyoming, currently plays in Spain) could not help Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (10-20) in their last game on Thursday. Despite Cruz's good performance Baloncesto Fuenlabrada was defeated in an overtime 89-84 on the road by the much higher-ranked Unicaja Malaga (#5). He was the second best scorer with 12 points. Cruz also added 4 rebounds. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be extremely important. This season Cruz has relatively solid stats: 14.5ppg, 2.6rpg and 2.6apg. He is also Mexican national team player.

The list of other players, who all have Mexican passport but never been selected to any of Mexican national teams:

#1. Joseph Soto (190-G-93, currently plays in Puerto Rico) could not help Vaqueros (10-11) in their last game. Despite Soto's good performance Vaqueros was edged 88-85 on the road by the one of league's weakest teams (#8) Atleticos. He scored 13 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 21 minutes. This year Soto's overall stats are: 5.0ppg, 1.8rpg and 4.8apg in six games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Mexican and Puerto Rican.

#2. Experienced Jake Rios (188-G-86, college: Georgia Coll., currently plays in Australia) led Forestville Eagles to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked South Adelaide Panthers (1-8) crushing them 110-77 in the Australian State League (second division) on Saturday night. Rios recorded 21 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Forestville Eagles (8-2) are placed second in Premier League. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row.
