Leonel Schattmann joins San Lorenzo

San Lorenzo de Almagro (La Liga) agreed terms with experienced 39-year old ex-international shooting guard Leonel Schattmann (193cm-1987) for new 2026-27 season. He will still stay in Argentina where he played last season at Instituto (La Liga). In two BCL Americas games he had 3.0ppg, 2.5rpg, 2.5apg and 1.0spg. His team made it to the quarterfinals. He also played 16 games in La Liga where he recorded 11.9ppg, 1.8rpg and 1.8apg.
The previous (2024-25) season he played at another Argentinian team Obras Basket Buenos Aires.
Schattmann was also a member of the Argentinian international program for some years. He played for Argentinian Senior National Team between 2010 and 2022 and previously for the Under 20 National Team back in 2003.
Schattmann also represented Argentina at the FIBA World Cup 2023 Americas Qualifiers three years ago. His team got to the Semifinals and he had 2 points per game.
He is quite experienced player. Schattmann has played also in Brazil (Vivo/Franca), Italy and Spain and Argentina (Atenas, Gimnasia, Boca Juniors, Lanus and Quimsa).
Among many awards he won Argentinian LNB championship title in 2024. He was also voted Latinbasket.com All-Argentinian League Domestic Player of the Year back in 2023.
Schattmann is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at San Lorenzo.
On Schattmann: Great shooter and passer. Very intelligent player, never forces a shot and has a good view for his teammates. Is a classic shooting guard Drazen-Petrovic-style and can also play as point guard.
