Bertone is back at Valur

Valur Reykjavik (Subway League) added experienced 36-year old Italian-Argentinian shooting guard Pablo Bertone (190cm-90kg-1990, college: FAU) to their roster for the new 2026-27 season. He is the second foreign player on the team, with British Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye signing earlier. Bertone is making a comeback to Reykjavik, having played here before. Last season, he played for Stjarnan in the Subway League, averaging 11.7ppg, 3.6rpg, and 2.3apg in 29 games. Bertone's contributions helped Stjarnan reach the cup final and the league semifinals.
He is quite an experienced player. Bertone's career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in six different countries. Bertone tasted the life as a pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America, and of course North America. He has played professionally also in Argentina (Lanus and Instituto), Germany (Titans), Italy (Openjobmetis Varese, Pesaro, Ferrara, and Tortona), Portugal (Oliveirense), and Spain (Palma Fibwi).
He received Eurobasket.com All-Icelandic League Honorable Mention in 2023. He may retire at Valur.
Bertone graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2014 and this will be his 13th (hopefully lucky) season as a professional player.
