Sp.America sign John Thomas

Sportivo America de Rosario (La Liga Argentina) inked experienced 37-year old American power forward John A. Thomas (198-104kg-82, college: Columbus State).
Petrolero. In 28 La Liga Argentina games in Argentina he recorded very impressive stats: 19.7ppg, 9.3rpg and 1.3apg last season. A very good year in his career as he was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Argentinian La Liga Argentina Honorable Mention.
Thomas ended the previous (2017-18) season at CA Temperley (TNA) where in 16 games he averaged remarkable 21.6ppg, 7.5rpg and 1.4apg. But the most of that year he spent at Los Leones (Liga Nacional) in Chilean league. In 27 games he had high stats: 15.4ppg, 7.4rpg and 1.4apg.
Thomas' team made it to the Paulista League Semifinals in 2012.
He is a very experienced player. Thomas has played also professionally in Brazil (Paschoalotto/Bauru), Finland, Germany, Holland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Uruguay (Union Atletica), Venezuela, Chile (Colo Colo), Argentina (Estudiantes Olavarria, Union de Santa Fe, Rocamora and San Lorenzo), NEBA (Atlanta Live) and Bolivia (Vikingos).
It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Sp.America.
Thomas attended Columbus State until 2004 and it will be his 16th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
His game is described as: An atletic forward who runs the court well and plays with great energy... can create his shot and goes well 1-on-1 in the paint ....his outside - inside dimension make him a good import player for international level of competition.
The type of player who does whatever the team needs. A real versatile player that can step into almost any position and get it done. During his college and pro career he has lined up at EVERY position including the pg spot for some minutes in a pinch. Can focus on and dominate any statistical category depending on the needs of his team. Easily able to defend bigger or smaller opponents while using his advantages to cause serious match up problems. Is a above average passer and if you give him the ball at the high post he will cause a ton of problems. Great a slashing to the hoop and elevating to finish but also possess a good 3pt touch and can shoot it well if asked to. Quite athletic but uses a combination of that and a high basketball IQ to frustrate opponents. Is a good team person and brings an attitude of winning into any situation.
