La Liga Argentina Round 29: Dep Viedma edge Del Progreso by three points

The Regular Season in La Liga Argentina is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 7 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 29 in the La Liga Argentina took place in General Roca. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Del Progreso (3-3) to third ranked Dep Viedma (5-1) 105-102 on Friday evening. Dep Viedma looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was swingman Lorenzo Capponi (191-94) who scored 29 points and 5 rebounds. point guard Raul Pelorosso (178-94) chipped in 21 points and 10 assists. point guard Valentin Burgos (184-92) produced 34 points (!!!) and 6 assists for the hosts. Dep Viedma moved-up to second place, which they share with Ciclista. Del Progreso lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Parque Sur. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Undefeated leader Independ.O. delivered the seventh consecutive victory. This time they beat 10th ranked Independiente (2-4) 78-63 in Olivia. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Independiente. Salvador Giletto (195-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 9 rebounds. Joaquin Noblega contributed with 5 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Independ.O.'s coach Martin Gonzalez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Daniel Tabbia (195-93) answered with 22 points for Independiente. Undefeated Independ.O. (7-0) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Newly promoted Independ.O. maintains first place with a perfect record of 7 victories in a row. Independiente at the other side keeps the tenth position with four games lost. They share it with GELP and Rocamora. Independ.O. will play against Echague (#13) in Parana in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Independiente will play on the road against the league's second-placed Barrio Parque in Cordoba and hopes to get back on the winning track.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Zarate, where 4th placed Zarate Basket (4-3) lost at home to fourteenth ranked Pergamino (3-4) 86-91 on Friday. Benjamin Levato stepped up and scored 28 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Pergamino's coach Julian Pagura used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Ignacio Cuassolo responded with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The victory was the third consecutive win for Pergamino. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Zarate Basket at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Salta Basket. Pergamino will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Zarate Basket will play against Ciclista (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games of round 29 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Racing defeated Lanus in Chivilcoy 69-62. Rivadavia was beaten by Barrio Parque at home 76-82. Echague lost to Salta Basket on the opponent's court 80-97. Bahia was outscored by Villa Mitre in a home game 51-76.
The best stats of 29th round was 9 points and 10 rebounds by Ramiro Heinrich of Villa Mitre.



Lanus - Racing 62-69

There was a minor upset in Buenos Aires where 7th ranked Lanus (3-4) was defeated by tenth ranked Racing (3-4) 69-62 on Thursday. Racing outrebounded Lanus 43-32 including 33 on the defensive glass. Point guard Alejo Barrales (174-91) stepped up and scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners and guard Erbel De Pietro (185-88) chipped in 19 points. Point guard Pablo Bruna (185-87) responded with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Canadian forward Cassidy Ryan (201-95, college: Brock) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Lanus' coach Leonardo Costa rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Racing moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Lanus. Lanus lost their fourth game in a row. Racing will meet at home higher ranked Estudiantes C. (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lanus will have a break next round.

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Barrio Parque (6-1) defeated on the road 9th ranked Rivadavia (3-5) 82-76 on Thursday. Federico Pedano (194-0) stepped up and scored 23 points and 4 steals for the winners and Andres Landoni (203-90) chipped in 18 points and 10 rebounds. Center Abel Trejo (204-90, agency: BIG) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 19 rebounds and point guard Stefano Arancibia (176-97) scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Barrio Parque and four Rivadavia players scored in double figures. Barrio Parque moved-up to second place. Rivadavia lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with five games lost. Barrio Parque will meet at home Independiente (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rivadavia will have a break next round.

Salta Basket's coach Jose Luis Pisani used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Lisandro Caraballo responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds and forward Rodrigo Riquelme (192-92) scored 8 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Salta Basket moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Zarate Basket. Echague lost their third game in a row.
