LDD Round 37: Obera defeat Comunicaciones- April 5, 2022
The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Platense - Quimsa 72-97 The game between 19th ranked Platense (4-30) and seventh ranked Quimsa (21-13) in Florida on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Santiago del Estero outscored Platense 97-72. They outrebounded Platense 45-24 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lucas Chiapella (-2004) nailed 29 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and center Lucio Longoni (205-2001) accounted for 18 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Quimsa players scored in double figures. Point guard Felipe Massa (184-2002) came up with 30 points and point guard Juan Frigerio (170-2003) added 11 points respectively for Platense in the defeat. Platense's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Quimsa have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 21-13 record. Platense lost fifteenth consecutive game. They keep the nineteenth position with 30 games lost. Quimsa will meet at home Olimpico (#10) in the next round. Platense will play against Ferro (#13) and hope to secure a win. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. La Union outrebounded Riachuelo LR 40-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. Point guard Agustin Sigel (165-2002) nailed 23 points for the winning side and guard Matias Caire (188-1999) accounted for 20 points. La Union's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Mateo Corso (185-2004) came up with 27 points and point guard Francisco Ramirez (181-2000) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Riachuelo LR in the defeat. La Union maintains ninth place with 17-15 record. Riachuelo LR lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 21 games lost. They share it with Argentino. La Union will meet at home league's second-placed San Martin in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Riachuelo LR will play against Gimnasia CR (#18) and hope to secure a win. Argentino forced 19 H.Americano turnovers and outrebounded them 41-30 including 27 on the defensive glass. Guard Franco Montemagio (185-2002) nailed 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and point guard Agustin Cavallin (188-2001) accounted for 24 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Braulio Soules (185-2003) came up with 25 points and 4 assists and forward Damian Fernandez (194-2002) added 18 points and 8 rebounds respectively for H.Americano in the defeat. Argentino moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Riachuelo LR. H.Americano lost eighth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 30 lost games. Argentino will meet at home higher ranked Regatas (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. H.Americano will play against Union (#14) in Santa Fe and hope to secure a win. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Obera (25-10) 71-60. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Comunicaciones. Obera forced 22 Comunicaciones turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Santiago Konaszuk (188-1999) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Taiel Gomez (185-1999) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Franco Maeso (197-2001) answered with 15 points and 8 rebounds and guard Francisco Llanos (182-2002) added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Comunicaciones. Four Comunicaciones players scored in double figures. Obera moved-up to fourth place. Comunicaciones at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Instituto. They outrebounded Instituto 48-35 including 34 on the defensive glass. Olimpico brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Ecuadorian forward Aaron Capurro (201-2000) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and guard Luciano Caceres (180-2001) chipped in 22 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side Federico Elias (190-1999) responded with 21 points and 4 assists and Juan Tulian (196-2000) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Olimpico have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to tenth place. Instituto at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Olimpico will play against higher ranked Quimsa (#7) in Santiago del Estero in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Instituto will have a break next round.
