Fabian Ramirez selected the top Argentinian playing abroad in last week's games- July 4, 2022
The list of other players, who all have Argentinian passport but never been selected to any of Argentinian national teams: #1. Joaquin Gamazo (198-PF-1991, currently plays in Bolivia) led La Salle to a victory over the league outsider Tenis (0-7) 96-89 in the Bolivian Libobasquet on Wednesday night. He was MVP of the game. Gamazo had a double-double by scoring 30 points and getting 20 rebounds in 40 minutes. Club Deportivo y Cultural La Salle de Tarija (3-3) is placed fifth in the Libobasquet. Gamazo has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 27.3ppg, 17.0rpg and 2.5apg in six games he played so far. #2. Federico Herrera (200-F/C-1993, currently plays in Chile) contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Boston College (4-5) crushing them 84-53 in the Chilean LNB 2 (second division) last Sunday. He had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 11 rebounds in 34 minutes. Sportiva Italiana Valparaiso (9-1) is placed first in the LNB 2. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Herrera's overall stats are: 8.6ppg, 7.9rpg, 1.9apg and 1.1spg in eight games. #3. Franco Benitez (199-F-1994, currently plays in Paraguay) could not help San Jose in their last game on Monday. Despite his very good performance the second-placed San Jose was defeated 85-76 in a derby game by the leading Olimpia Kings in the Final 4 group. Benitez was the second best scorer with 18 points. He also added 7 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Benitez has relatively good stats this season: 14.8ppg, 9.0rpg and 1.3apg. #4. Fernando Dose (200-F-1994, currently plays in Paraguay) is a teammate of previously mentioned Franco Benitez and both played together in the last Paraguayan LNB game. Dose was not able to help San Jose in their last game. Despite his very good performance the second-placed San Jose lost 76-85 in a derby game to the leading Olimpia Kings in the Final 4 group. Dose was the top scorer with 20 points in 38 minutes. Dose has very impressive stats this year: 16.0ppg, 5.4rpg and 2.9apg in 11 games. He has a dual citizenship: Argentinian and Paraguayan. #5. Experienced Eduardo Gamboa (189-SG-1984, currently plays in Bolivia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Joaquin Gamazo. But that was another game of his team in Bolivian Libobasquet which we would like to mention. Gamboa was not able to secure a victory for La Salle (3-3) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance La Salle was badly defeated 86-69 at home by the second-ranked Pichincha. Gamboa was the second best scorer with 12 points. It was his first game for La Salle this season. #6. Sebastian Picton (197-F-1992, currently plays in Paraguay) is a teammate of previously mentioned Franco Benitez. He played also in the last Paraguayan LNB game facing Fernando Dose (above) in the other team. Picton couldn't help San Jose in their game against Olimpia Kings, despite his good performance on Monday night. He recorded 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 30 minutes. But his team lost 76-85. Picton has relatively good stats this year: 13.4ppg, 6.2rpg, 1.9apg and 1.2spg in 11 games. #7. Santiago Barrales (189-SF-1998, currently plays in Bolivia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Joaquin Gamazo and both played together in the last Bolivian Libobasquet game. Barrales managed to help Club Deportivo y Cultural La Salle de Tarija to win against the league outsider Tenis 96-89. He recorded 5 points and added 5 assists. Barrales' overall stats this season are: 5.6ppg, 1.6rpg and 2.6apg. #8. Sebastian Alvarez (185-PG-1989, currently plays in Uruguay) was the major contributor in Colon's victory against one of league's weakest teams Sayago 82-78 in the Uruguayan Metropolitan (second division) on Saturday night. Alvarez scored 18 points. This season Alvarez has relatively solid stats: 15.0ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.0apg and 1.3spg.
