The most exciting game of round 7 in the La Liga took place in Olivia. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 15th ranked Independ.O. (2-4) to second ranked Gimnasia (6-2) 95-94 on Thursday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Gerard DeVaughn (205-1988, college: Stillman) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds. point guard Facundo Vazquez (185-1998) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Guard Lucio Reinaudi (185-1995) answered with 14 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals for Independ.O.Independ.O.'s coach Martin Gonzalez tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Gimnasia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 6-2 record having nine points less than leader Instituto. Newly promoted Independ.O. keeps the fifteenth position with four games lost. They share it with Regatas and Riachuelo LR. Gimnasia are looking forward to face Ferro (#7) in Buenos Aires in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Independ.O. will have a break next round.
An interesting game for Instituto (11-1) which hosted in Cordoba their biggest opponent Gimnasia (6-2). First ranked Instituto had an easy win 96-77. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Gimnasia. It was a great evening for the former international forward Bautista Lugarini (203-2001) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points and 7 rebounds. Luciano Gonzalez helped adding 19 points. At the losing side Cuban forward Joaquin Mensia (198-1997, agency: Pro Sports) responded with 25 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Instituto have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 11-1 record. Gimnasia at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Instituto will play against Quimsa (#6) in Santiado del Estero in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gimnasia will play at home against Ferro (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Comunicaciones is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to sixth ranked Obera (5-1) 78-66 on Sunday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Charles Mitchell who led the winners and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Skyler Hogan came up with 15 points and 6 rebounds for Comunicaciones in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Obera. They moved-up to fourth place. Comunicaciones lost their eighth game in a row. They still close the standings with eight games lost. Obera will meet Platense (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Comunicaciones will play against San Martin (#9) in Corrientes and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Other games in round 7 were not that significant. La Union was beaten by Obras on the road 74-61. Union SF lost to Obera on its own court 72-82. Ferro managed to outperform Atenas in Buenos Aires 85-68. San Lorenzo recorded a loss to Boca at home 69-75. La Union was defeated by Argentino on the opponent's court 83-81. Riachuelo LR beat Ferro in a home game 85-79.
The most impressive performance of 7th round was 24 points by Latraius Mosley of Riachuelo LR.



Independ.O. - Gimnasia 94-95
