La Liga Argentina Round 15: Leader Ameghino gets another victory

Leader Ameghino delivered the twelfth win on Thursday night. This time they crushed 15th ranked Salta Basket (3-9) 104-79. Ameghino dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Salta Basket's 28. They outrebounded Salta Basket 41-27 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was point guard Emiliano Lezcano (187-2001) who scored 11 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Matias Martinez chipped in 22 points. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Nicolas Zurschmitten (183-1995) who recorded 20 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ameghino (12-2) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place. Salta Basket lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with nine games lost. They share it with Echague. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
The game in Rivadavia was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Barrio Parque (9-1) played at the court of 7th ranked Rivadavia (5-4). Barrio Parque did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 92-74. It was a good game for point guard Nahuel Buchaillot (178-2000) who led his team to a victory with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Federico Pedano contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Barrio Parque. They maintain third place with 9-1 record having just two points less than leader Ameghino. Rivadavia at the other side dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. Barrio Parque will play against Colon SF (#5) in Santa Fe in the next round. Rivadavia will play on the road against Libertad in Sunchales and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Colon SF (7-4) played at the court of 6th ranked Montmartre (5-3). Colon SF defeated Montmartre 86-70 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Montmartre. It was a great evening for Joaquin Baeza who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 assists. Colon SF's coach Juan Siemienzuck used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Richard Granberry with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Colon SF maintains fifth place with 7-4 record. Newly promoted Montmartre dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Colon SF will meet higher ranked Barrio Parque (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Montmartre will have a break next round.

Estudiantes C. was beaten by Rocamora in a road game 71-56. Pico FC won against Pergamino at home 81-71. H.Americano unfortunately lost to Zarate Basket on the opponent's court 78-83.

GEPU - Dep Norte 102-69

There was no surprise in San Luis where 9th ranked Dep Norte (6-5) was crushed by fourth ranked GEPU (7-2) 102-69 on Thursday. GEPU dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Dep Norte's 32. GEPU forced 20 Dep Norte turnovers. It was a great shooting night for GEPU especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. It was a great evening for point guard Andres Lugli (188-1995) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Pablo Osores (194-1986) helped adding 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five GEPU players scored in double figures.
