La Liga Round 47: Leader Instituto gets another victory

The Regular Season in La Liga just ended. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Leader Instituto delivered the 31th win on Tuesday night. This time they crushed 20th ranked Atenas (5-33) 90-70 in Cordoba. Instituto looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Mateo Chiarini (190-1998) who scored 17 points and 4 assists. The former international forward Bautista Lugarini (203-2001) chipped in 16 points. Swingman Federico Mariani (190-1992) produced 17 points for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 31-7 record. Atenas lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 33 lost games.

Obras' coach Gregorio Martinez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Penarol moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Riachuelo LR. Obras at the other side keeps the seventh position with 15 games lost.
Nineteenth-ranked Union SF (8-30) made lots of trouble for twelfth ranked Riachuelo LR (20-18) in Santa Fe on Wednesday. The visitors from La Rioja managed to secure only two-point victory 80-78. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a great evening for Mariano Fierro who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. LaMarshall Corbett responded with 17 points. Union SF's coach Juan Francisco Ponce tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Riachuelo LR moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Penarol. Loser Union SF keeps the nineteenth position with 30 games lost.

Other games of round 47 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Olimpico was defeated by San Martin in Corrientes 81-66. Comunicaciones was smashed by Boca at home 66-88. Regatas lost to La Union on the opponent's court 83-87. Obras managed to outperform Platense in a home game 71-64.
The best stats of 47th round was 25 points and 7 rebounds by Alejandro Alloatti of Platense.




Instituto - Atenas 90-70

There was an upset in Corrientes where higher ranked Olimpico (24-15) was defeated by thirteenth ranked San Martin (19-19) 81-66 on Tuesday. San Martin outrebounded Olimpico 39-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for the former international Matias Solanas (192-1998) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Javier Saiz (206-1994) helped adding 18 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Patricio Tabarez (195-1991) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and the former international center Roberto Acuna (208-1990) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard Thomas Cooper (196-1992, college: Calgary) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Michael Henry (198-1995, college: Buffalo St., agency: Haylett Sports) helped adding 11 points and 11 rebounds. Five La Union players scored in double figures.
