La Liga Argentina Round 7 (Regular Season): Rivadavia lose to Independiente

It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in La Liga Argentina, but even now we can clearly see the difference between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Rivadavia (4-1) recorded its first loss in Santiago del Estero on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by tenth ranked Independiente (2-4) 84-77. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Rivadavia. Independiente looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Point guard Milton Vittar (185-1991) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. point guard Gabriel Rojas (180-2000) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. Independiente's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Agustin Vergara (196-2001) produced 25 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Independiente maintains tenth place with 2-4 record. Rivadavia at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with Suardi. Independiente are looking forward to face Jachal (#14) on the road in the next round. Rivadavia will have a break next round.
Important game to mention about took place in Buenos Aires. Fifteenth ranked Racing A. (1-1) saved a 3-point victory at home edging leader Pico FC (5-2) 82-79 on Wednesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Pico FC. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Matias Nunez (202-1995) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Rafael Rosende contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Felipe Bonfigli answered with 22 points and 4 steals (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for Pico FC. Racing A. left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place. Pico FC at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Racing A. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pico FC will play against Pilar and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Racing (5-3) against sixteenth ranked H.Americano (1-4) on Wednesday night. Visiting Racing was crushed by H.Americano in Rio Gallegos 89-68. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Racing. It was a great evening for Gonzalo Torres who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side Lucio Castellani responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. H.Americano maintains sixteenth place with 1-4 record. Loser Racing keeps the second position with three games lost. H.Americano will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Racing will play against Ameghino and hope to secure a win.

Other games of round 7 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Jachal was crushed by Barrio Parque in Cordoba 98-68. Lanus was beaten by Pico FC at home 87-94. Dep Viedma won against Rocamora on the opponent's court 88-77. Provincial managed to outperform Villa Mitre in a home game 85-82. Racing managed to beat GELP on the road 85-73. Independiente lost to undefeated GEPU on its own court 63-76. Winless Salta Basket was beaten by Atenas in Cordoba 68-75. La Union won against Dep Viedma at home 69-67. Villa Mitre was outscored by Rocamora on the opponent's court 82-58. Suardi managed to beat Dep Norte in a home game 92-75.
The best stats of 7th round was 6 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists by Victor Cajal of Suardi.




Independiente - Rivadavia 84-77

There was no surprise in Cordoba where 14th ranked Jachal (1-5) was crushed by seventh ranked Barrio Parque (4-3) 98-68 on Sunday. Barrio Parque outrebounded Jachal 43-29 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Barrio Parque looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for swingman Ramiro Ledesma (192-2000) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 9 rebounds. Federico Pedano (194-2000) helped adding 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four Barrio Parque players scored in double figures. Barrio Parque's coach Esteban Pierdominici felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Brazilian center Pedro Pecanha (206-1998) responded with 24 points and 9 rebounds and Alvaro Caraffa (199-2000, agency: BIG) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. Barrio Parque moved-up to third place, which they share with Pergamino and Provincial. Jachal lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with five games lost. Barrio Parque will meet at home Salta Basket (#16) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Jachal will play against Independiente and hope to win that game.
