Top ranked Gimnasia CR (16-2) recorded its second loss on the court of sixth ranked Obera on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by Obera 88-86. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Gimnasia CR. 30 personal fouls committed by Gimnasia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was power forward Kelvin Ramirez (204-2002) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds. Paraguayan power forward Hugo Caballero (190-2004) chipped in 26 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Dominican swingman Angel Reyes (201-2002) produced 22 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Defending champion (11-5) moved-up to fifth place. Gimnasia at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Obera are looking forward to face league's second-placed Independ.O. in Olivia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gimnasia will have a break next round.

However their fans expected much easier game. Esteban Caffaro (200-2003) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Nicolas Marcucci contributed with 19 points for the winners. Venezuelan guard Yeferson Guerra (192-2003, agency: Pro Sports) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds for Union. Union's coach Martin Castellazzi tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Independ.O. have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain second place with 13-5 record having just three points less than leader Gimnasia, which they share with Boca Jrs. Union at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Argentino. Independ.O. will play against Obera (#5) at home in the next round. Union will play against Ferro (#4) in Buenos Aires and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Platense - Penarol 101-98

There was no surprise in Florida where 16th ranked Penarol (5-11) was edged by eleventh ranked Platense (8-9) 101-98 on Thursday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Platense outrebounded Penarol 47-34 including 16 on the offensive glass. Santino Mazzucchelli stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and swingman Mariano Goicoechea (195-2004) chipped in 24 points. Five Platense players scored in double figures. Forward Nicolas Chiaraviglio (199-2004) responded with 30 points and 7 rebounds and guard Facundo Cabrera (185-2001) scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. Platense moved-up to tenth place. Penarol lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixteenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Regatas. Five Instituto players scored in double figures. Guard Sahir Abdala (185-2005) responded with 25 points and Edgar Merchant (200-2002) scored 12 points. Zarate's coach Daniel Acosta gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Instituto moved-up to seventh place. Newly promoted Zarate keeps the eighteenth position with ten games lost. Instituto will meet at home higher ranked Obera (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
