Host teams show no mercy winning all games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Racing as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Racing smashed 11th ranked Racing A. in Chivilcoy 85-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Racing A.. They made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Racing A. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Power forward Jose Peralta (202-1995) stepped up and scored 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and point guard Alejo Barrales (174-1991) chipped in 14 points and 6 assists. At the losing side forward Matias Fernandez (203-1988) responded with 10 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Racing have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Racing A. keeps the eleventh place with three games lost. Racing A. will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Racing will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Pilar at home.
The game in San Luis was also worth to mention about. 5th ranked Montmartre (8-6) played at the court of seventh ranked GEPU (9-6). GEPU managed to secure a 8-point victory 84-76. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Montmartre. Jorge Mas nailed 18 points for the winning side and Valentin Costa accounted for 15 points and 5 assists. GEPU's coach Gustavo Morla allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Juan Boffelli (197-1998) came up with 15 points and 5 rebounds for Montmartre in the defeat. GEPU moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Rivadavia and Dep Norte. Montmartre at the other side dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. GEPU will play against Independiente (#11) in Santiago del Estero in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Montmartre will play on the road against Rivadavia and hopes to get back on the winning track.

The most impressive stats of the last round was 16 points by Ramiro Trebucq of Echague.




Rivadavia - Independiente 77-75

A very close game took place in Rivadavia between Rivadavia and Independiente. Eighth ranked Rivadavia (9-6) got a very close home victory over 11th ranked Independiente (6-9). There was an upset when 4th placed Pilar (11-6) was defeated on the road by sixteenth ranked Pergamino (6-11) 88-82 on Monday. Strangely Pilar outrebounded Pergamino 40-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. Swingman Federico Gobetti (192-1999) fired 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Juan Martin Bello (200-1999) chipped in 14 points and 5 assists. Eduardo Gamboa (189-1984) produced 21 points and 6 rebounds and American center Dishon Lowery (200-1998, college: OKBU) added 11 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pergamino moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Salta Basket. Loser Pilar dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Pergamino will meet at home higher ranked Lanus (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pilar will play against the league's leader Racing having rather not much hope for a victory.

Rather predictable result in Rosario where seventh ranked Provincial (9-8) smashed 10th ranked GELP (8-10) 91-61 on Monday. Provincial looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international swingman Adrian Boccia (195-1982) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Juan Pablo Evangelista chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Provincial players scored in double figures. Point guard Alan Moreno (185-1997, agency: BIG) produced 14 points and power forward Santiago Bruera (206-1998, college: FAU, agency: BIG) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Provincial maintains seventh place with 9-8 record. GELP lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with ten games lost. Provincial will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. GELP will play against Rocamora (#17) and hope to secure a win.
