Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game between third ranked Instituto (14-5) and eighth ranked San Martin (11-8) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Instituto was defeated by San Martin in a tough game in Corrientes 77-85. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Instituto. 26 personal fouls committed by Instituto helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Ecuadorian center Bryan Carabali (214-1999) who scored 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Franco Mendez (188-2002) chipped in 18 points. San Martin's coach Gabriel Revidatti used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international point guard Leandro Vildoza (180-1994) produced 10 points and 7 assists for the guests. San Martin have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Obras. Instituto at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. San Martin is looking forward to face Ferro (#13) in Buenos Aires in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Instituto will play at home against Zarate (#14) and is hoping to win this game.
Leader Quimsa delivered the eighteenth victory. This time they beat 12th ranked Riachuelo (9-11) 85-73 in Santiado del Estero. The former international power forward Tayavek Gallizzi (206-1993) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Juan Brussino contributed with 14 points and 4 assists for the winners. Colombian forward Andres Ibarguen (200-1996, college: Angelo St., agency: Helping Ballers) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for Riachuelo. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Quimsa (18-1) have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place. Riachuelo at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Ferro. Quimsa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Riachuelo will play on the road against the league's second-placed Olimpico (#2) in La Banda and hopes to get back on the winning track.

It was a great evening for Rodrigo Sanchez who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Franco Vieta responded with 16 points. Regatas' coach Fernando Calvi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Comunicaciones moved-up to sixteenth place. Regatas lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. They share it with Obera. Comunicaciones will meet at home Penarol (#17) in the next round. Regatas will play against Ferro (#13) and hope to secure a win.

Other games of round 23 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Penarol was defeated by La Union in Formosa 83-79. Olimpico beat Argentino at home 79-62. Argentino lost to Independ.O. on the opponent's court 70-79. Boca outscored Zarate in a home game 88-66. Ferro managed to beat Obera on the road 80-62.
The best stats of 23th round was 17 points and 4 assists by Juan Guerrero of Boca.



La Union - Penarol 83-79

There was a minor upset in Formosa where 16th ranked Penarol (6-13) was defeated by eighteenth ranked La Union (5-13) 83-79 on Sunday. It was a great evening for American-Haitian forward Wes Alcegaire (198-1994, college: BGSU) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points. American power forward Kwame Alexander (201-1990, college: CSUSB, agency: BIG) helped adding 16 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Joaquin Valinotti (185-1998) responded with 19 points and 5 assists and the former international Tomas Monacchi (198-1997) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Five La Union and four Penarol players scored in double figures. La Union maintains eighteenth place with 5-13 record. Loser Penarol dropped to the seventeenth position with 13 games lost. La Union will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Penarol will play against Comunicaciones (#16) in Mercedes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
