LDD Round 32 (Regular Season): Independ.O. edge Obras by two points

The Regular Season in LDD is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 7 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 32 in the LDD took place in Buenos Aires. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Obras (19-8) to fifth ranked Independ.O. (19-9) 70-68 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Obras. The best player for the winners was point guard Jorge Garcia (180) who scored 23 points and 9 rebounds. Esteban Caffaro (200-2003) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. point guard Juan Respaud (190-2005) produced 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Obras' coach Javier Ielmini tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Independ.O. have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 19-9 record. Obras at the other side keeps the fourth place with eight games lost. Independ.O. are looking forward to face league's leader Gimnasia in Comodoro Rivadavia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Obras will have a break next round.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Corrientes, where higher ranked Argentino (11-18) lost to nineteenth ranked San Martin (4-23) in a road game 48-64. Valentin Ojeda orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points and 8 rebounds. Lorenzo Benay contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. San Martin's coach Diego Blanco allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Augusto Gennero (188-2003) replied with 6 points and 15 rebounds for Argentino. San Martin maintains nineteenth position with 4-23 record. Argentino at the other side keeps the fourteenth place with 18 games lost. San Martin will play against higher ranked Zarate (#18) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Argentino will play against La Union (#15) in Formosa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game took place in Almagra, where 12th ranked Platense (11-15) lost to fifteenth ranked San Lorenzo (11-17) in a road game 73-81 on Friday. Worth to mention a great performance of Thiago Roca who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 rebounds. San Lorenzo's coach Juan Veira used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mariano Goicoechea responded with 28 points. San Lorenzo moved-up to thirteenth place. Platense lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Rest of the games of round 32 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Olimpico was defeated by Union in Santa Fe 103-87. Regatas smashed La Union at home 104-85. Penarol was destroyed by Riachuelo on the opponent's court 96-69. Ferro managed to outperform Comunicaciones in a home game 65-59. Zarate managed to beat Regatas on the road 87-74.
The best stats of 32th round was 15 points and 10 rebounds by Jose Ruiz of Zarate.



Union - Olimpico 103-87

There was no surprise in Santa Fe where 19th ranked Olimpico (3-24) was defeated by tenth ranked Union (15-12) 103-87 on Wednesday. Union made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Olimpico turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Matias Cagliero (187-2005) who helped to win the game recording 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Lucas Peralta (-2005) who added 16 points during the contest. Union's coach Martin Castellazzi used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Carlos Hurtado responded with 24 points and Camilo Romano scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Four Union and five Olimpico players scored in double figures. Union moved-up to ninth place. Olimpico lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Regatas - La Union 104-85

No shocking result in a game in Corrientes where fourteenth ranked Regatas (10-18) smashed 17th ranked La Union (10-17) 104-85 on Wednesday. Regatas outrebounded La Union 43-31 including 34 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Viktor Bender who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Francisco Ferraro (196-2004) who added 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Regatas' coach Diego Checenelli used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Franco Chir (190-2002) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and Franco Gimenez scored 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Regatas and four La Union players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Regatas went down to sixteenth position due to points difference. Loser La Union dropped to the fifteenth place with 17 games lost. Regatas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. La Union will play against Argentino (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Worth to mention a great performance of guard Jeremias Barco (-2005) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and center Fabricio Diaz (205-2006) who added 17 points and 14 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Riachuelo LR players scored in double figures. Forward Nicolas Chiaraviglio (199-2004) responded with 26 points and 6 rebounds and Agustin Samara scored 16 points and 7 rebounds.
