Fabricio Diaz claims Argentinian LDD weekly honour

Talented Fabricio Diaz (205-C-2006) put on an amazing game in the last round for Riachuelo de La Rioja U22 team and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 32.
The 17-year old center had a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds, while his team outclassed Penarol (#15, 10-16) with 27-point margin 96-69. Riachuelo maintains the 6th position in Argentinian LDD. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Riachuelo will need more victories to improve their 19-10 record. It's Diaz's second year at Riachuelo and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Diaz has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (9th best: 9.0rpg) and averages solid 52.5% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young guard Franco Chir (190-G-2002) of La Union Formosa. Chir impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 26 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as La Union lost that game 85-104 to slightly lower-ranked Regatas (#17, 10-18). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But La Union managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 16th place. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 10-17 record. Chir is a newcomer at La Union and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was another Riachuelo LR's star - Jeremias Barco (G-2005). Barco showcased his all-around game by recording 12 points, 15 rebounds (!!!) and 4 assists in the last round. He was another key player of Riachuelo de La Rioja, helping his team with a 96-69 easy win against the lower-ranked Penarol (#15, 10-16). Riachuelo needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 19 victories and 10 lost games. Barco has a very solid season. In 29 games in Argentina he scored 14.6ppg. He also has 7.1rpg, 1.1bpg and a FGP of 62.3%.
