LDD Round 39 (Regular Season): Top-ranked Gimnasia wins another game

The Regular Season in LDD just ended. The round 39 was rather boring as all games ended with very predictable results. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

LDD top team - Gimnasia CR (26-3) had no problems winning another game on Monday. This time they crushed seventeenth ranked Regatas (11-21) in Comodoro Rivadavia 82-50. Gimnasia forced 20 Regatas turnovers and outrebounded them 48-31 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Gimnasia looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Regatas' players. It was a good game for Dominican swingman Angel Reyes (201-2002) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. point guard Martiniano Dato (188-2004) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Gimnasia CR's coach Gustavo Sapochnik felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Viktor Bender answered with 17 points and 5 rebounds for Regatas. Gimnasia CR have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 26-3 record. Regatas lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth position with 21 games lost.
The game between 15th ranked Argentino (12-21) and sixth ranked Riachuelo (22-11) in Junin ended with biggest points difference. Guests from La Rioja outscored Argentino 98-53. Worth to mention a quality performance of guard Jeremias Barco (-2005) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Matias Bichara helped adding 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was guard Augusto Gennero (188-2003) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds. Argentino's coach Juan Martin gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Riachuelo moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Independ.O. Argentino lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with 21 games lost.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 39: bottom-ranked Olimpico was smashed by Comunicaciones on the road 81-59. La Union lost to Independ.O. on its own court 94-99. San Lorenzo managed to outperform Argentino in Almagra 82-77. Zarate was rolled over Quimsa at home 68-87. Penarol was defeated by Boca Jrs. on the opponent's court 78-61. Obera smashed Olimpico in a home game 89-64.
The most impressive performance of 39th round was 24 points and 13 rebounds by Maximiliano Acevedo of Obera.




Comunicaciones - Olimpico 81-59

No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Comunicaciones (17-12) crushed bottom-ranked Olimpico (3-29) in Mercedes 81-59. Comunicaciones outrebounded Olimpico 58-46 including 19 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for Mateo Rearte (-2006) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Marcos Panozzo (195) helped adding 14 points and 16 rebounds. Four Comunicaciones players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Enzo Facelli (-2003) with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Cesar Martinez (182-2007) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Comunicaciones maintains ninth place with 17-12 record. Olimpico lost their eighth game in a row. They stay dead last with 29 lost games.

La Union - Independ.O. 94-99

Very expected game when 14th ranked La Union (12-20) lost to fifth ranked Independ.O. (22-11) in Formosa 94-99. Independ.O. outrebounded La Union 52-35 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Esteban Caffaro (200-2003) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Dominican Angel Puello helped adding 18 points and 8 rebounds. Five Independ.O. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Franco Gimenez with 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and Laureano Corominas (195-2002) scored 26 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Independ.O.. They maintain fifth place with 22-11 record, which they share with Riachuelo. La Union at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with 20 games lost.

Rather predictable result when twelfth ranked San Lorenzo (14-18) won against 15th ranked Argentino (12-21) in Junin 82-77. It was a great evening for Thiago Roca (-2004) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 8 rebounds. Eduardo Santamaria helped adding 18 points and 16 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Augusto Gennero (188-2003) with 21 points and 9 rebounds and Franco Capelli scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Five Argentino players scored in double figures. Not a big story in a game when 18th ranked Zarate (9-22) was outscored at home by eleventh ranked Quimsa (15-15) 87-68. Quimsa outrebounded Zarate 50-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for swingman Diego Collomb (192-2004) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Facundo Campos (-2005) helped adding 11 points and 11 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Emilio Polese (185-2002) with 20 points and forward Juan Ibarra (197-2004) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Quimsa maintains eleventh place with 15-15 record. Newly promoted Zarate keeps the eighteenth position with 22 games lost.
