LDD Round 41 (Regular Season): Last-ranked Olimpico beat San Martin

The Regular Season in LDD is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Bottom-ranked Olimpico managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of eight consecutive losses on Sunday night. This time they edged nineteenth-ranked San Martin in La Banda 63-62. The best player for the winners was guard Ignacio Gonzalez (187-2003) who scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Enzo Facelli (-2003) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Joaquin Folmer produced 14 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Olimpico maintains twentieth place with 4-29 record. San Martin lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the nineteenth position with 28 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Leader Gimnasia CR delivered the twenty eighth victory. This time they beat 15th ranked Platense (12-21) 85-79 in Florida. Dominican swingman Angel Reyes (201-2002) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Jose Copesky contributed with 20 points for the winners. Swingman Mariano Goicoechea (195-2004) answered with 29 points and 4 steals for Platense. Platense's coach Alejandro Perez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gimnasia CR (28-3) have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place. Platense at the other side keeps the fifteenth position with 21 games lost. They share it with La Union. Gimnasia will play against league's second-placed Obras in Buenos Aires in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Platense will play at home against Quimsa (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Buenos Aires. Local Boca Jrs (25-9) outscored 14th ranked Argentino (13-22) 83-63 on Wednesday night. Tomas Sonnaillon stepped up and scored 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Boca Jrs' coach Gonzalo Perez used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Augusto Gennero responded with 8 points and 20 rebounds. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Boca Jrs. Boca Jrs. maintains fourth place with 25-9 record. Loser Argentino keeps the fourteenth position with 22 games lost. Boca Jrs. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Argentino will play against Penarol (#13) in Mar del Plata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games of round 41 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Boca Jrs. defeated San Lorenzo in Buenos Aires 83-69. Independ.O. beat Union at home 75-67. Argentino won against Zarate on the opponent's court 79-72. Instituto managed to outperform Union in a home game 73-65. Quimsa recorded a loss to Obras on the road 73-64.




San Lorenzo - Boca Jrs. 69-83

There was no surprise in Almagra where 12th ranked San Lorenzo (14-19) was defeated by fourth ranked Boca Jrs (25-9) 83-69 on Sunday. Boca Jrs. outrebounded San Lorenzo 45-28 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Nicolas Stenta (200-2004) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and Federico Contrera (-2006) chipped in 15 points and 6 assists. Four Boca Jrs players scored in double figures. Thiago Roca (-2004) responded with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Valentino Nesci scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. San Lorenzo's coach Juan Veira tested eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Boca Jrs. Boca Jrs. maintains fourth place with 25-9 record. Loser San Lorenzo keeps the twelfth position with 19 games lost. Boca Jrs.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Buenos Aires to the arena .

Four Independ.O. players scored in double figures. Independ.O.'s coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Estanislao Crespi responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and Bautista Bianchi scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Independ.O.. They moved-up to fifth place. Union lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 17 games lost. Independ.O. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Union will play against Riachuelo (#6) in La Rioja and hope to secure a win.

Guard Augusto Gennero (188-2003) stepped up and scored 26 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and point guard Santiago Capelli (180-2005) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. Gino Sciamanna responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Joaquin Diaz scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Five Zarate players scored in double figures. Argentino maintains fourteenth place with 13-22 record. Zarate lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eighteenth position with 23 games lost. Argentino will meet higher ranked Penarol (#13) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zarate will play against the league's leader Gimnasia (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
