Round 4 most important game was a victory of Platense over higher ranked Union 58-51 on Tuesday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Union. Worth to mention a great performance of Venezuelan Henyerberth Mata (201-2005) who helped to win the game recording 7 points and 17 rebounds. Santino Mazzucchelli contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Ulises Gonzalez (-2005) replied with 10 points and 9 rebounds for Union. Union's coach Marcos Chechele rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Platense went down to ninth position due to points difference. Union at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. Platense will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Union will play on the road against San Martin (#18) in Corrientes and is hoping to win this game.

Argentino (1-2) left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place, which they share with Zarate. Penarol at the other side dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Argentino will play against higher ranked Quimsa (#12) in Santiago del Estero in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Penarol will have a break next round.
Riachuelo's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after one consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they outplayed much higher ranked Boca Jrs (4-3) 88-69 on Monday. The winners were led by Jeremias Barco who scored that evening 26 points and 9 rebounds. Riachuelo LR's coach Gonzalo Castillo let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 19 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists by Fidel Cifuentes did not help to save the game for Boca Jrs.. Riachuelo (1-1) left bottom position moving up to twelfth place, which they share with Quimsa. Loser Boca Jrs dropped to the third position with three games lost. Riachuelo will meet higher ranked Obras (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Boca Jrs. will have a break next round.

Other games in round 4 were not that significant. Winless Gimnasia lost to undefeated Obera on the road 62-87. Zarate lost to Penarol on its own court 76-81. Ferro managed to outperform Platense in Buenos Aires 72-71. Boca Jrs. managed to beat Penarol at home 87-84.




Argentino - Penarol 74-61

Argentino's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after two consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Penarol (2-4) 74-61. Argentino outrebounded Penarol 46-34 including 34 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Piero Di Prinzio who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 5 rebounds and Lucio Dominici who added 10 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Argentino players scored in double figures. Argentino's coach Julio Mazzaro used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. No shocking result in a game when top-ranked Obera (2-0) crushed at home bottom-ranked Gimnasia CR (0-3) 87-62 on Tuesday. Obera forced 19 Gimnasia turnovers and outrebounded them 51-32 including a 40-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by Colombian point guard Edwin Niebles (178-2005) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 23 rebounds and Spanish forward Tobias Reizner (203, college: Truman St.) supported him with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Obera players scored in double figures. Coach Lucas Gornatti's team had such big advantage that he gave the chance to play for all 12 players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 28 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals by Uruguayan guard Thomas Araujo (192-2004) did not help to save the game for Gimnasia. Guard Jose Copesky (184-2006) added 14 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Obera moved-up to sixth place. Defending champion Gimnasia still closes the standings with three games lost.
