LDD Round 5 (Regular Season): Obera lose to Regatas

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Obera (2-1) in Corrientes on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by Regatas (5-0) 67-61. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Obera. Regatas had a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Francisco Ferraro (196-2004) stepped up and scored 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Juan Larraza chipped in 12 points and 4 assists. Regatas' coach Diego Checenelli used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Maximiliano Acevedo (203-2004) responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Undefeated Regatas have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Independ.O. Obera at the other side dropped to the seventh place with one game lost. They share the position with Quimsa. Regatas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Corrientes San Martin.
Bottom-ranked San Martin (0-2) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their second consecutive match to fourth ranked Union (5-2) 78-76. Lucas Peralta (-2005) nailed 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Bautista Bianchi accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds. Geronimo Ramallo came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds for San Martin in the defeat. The best player for the winners was Tobias Tamagusuku who scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Ayrton Valdivieso produced 12 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ferro moved-up to sixth place. Loser San Lorenzo still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with San Martin. Ferro will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. San Lorenzo will play against Quimsa (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 5: Argentino won against Riachuelo on the opponent's court 76-75. Obras managed to outperform Riachuelo in a home game 91-76. Argentino recorded a loss to Quimsa on the road 75-71.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 17 points and 5 rebounds by Facundo Campos of Quimsa.



Riachuelo LR - Argentino 75-76

Very expected game in La Rioja where 14th ranked Riachuelo (1-3) was edged by seventh ranked Argentino (2-3) 76-75 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Piero Di Prinzio who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Santiago Capelli (180-2005) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Argentino players scored in double figures. Guard Mateo Corso (185-2003) produced 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Jeremias Barco (-2005) added 20 points respectively for the hosts. Riachuelo LR's coach Gonzalo Castillo tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Despite that victory Argentino went down to ninth position due to points difference, which they share with Instituto and Platense. Loser Riachuelo LR dropped to the fifteenth place with three games lost. Argentino will meet bottom-ranked Olimpico (#20) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Riachuelo will play against San Lorenzo (#17) in Almagra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
