Round 5 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Gorriones (4-2). They were defeated by second ranked Instituto (4-1) 58-49 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gorriones. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The former international power forward Giselle Botta (180-1999) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and point guard Julieta Sienra (161-2003) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Instituto's coach Daiana Di Benedetto used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Valentina Numa (173-2000, agency: BIG) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Instituto keeps a position of league leader. Gorriones at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Berazategui. They were replaced at the leadership position by Ferro. Gorriones will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Instituto will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Chanares in James Craik.
Lanus has registered their first victory this season after seven consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Avellaneda (0-5) 88-54. Ayelen Boujon nailed a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Martina Scian accounted for 19 points. The former international Natasha Spiatta (177-1992) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for Avellaneda in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Lanus went down to seventh position due to points difference. It was Avellaneda's fifth loss in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Lanus will play against higher ranked Rocamora (#6) in Concepcion de Urug. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Avellaneda will play on the road against the league's leader Ferro and will have a slim chance for a victory.
Bottom-ranked Avellaneda (0-5) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to fourth ranked Union Florida (5-2) 70-61 on Saturday evening. The best player for the winners was Carla Miculka who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. Union Florida's coach Nicolas Grosso used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Natasha Spiatta produced a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Union Florida have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Loser Avellaneda still closes the standings with five games lost. Union Florida will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Avellaneda will play against the league's leader Ferro (#1) in Buenos Aires and hopes to get finally their first victory.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 5: Rocamora lost to El Talar on the opponent's court 64-80. Rocamora lost to defending champion El Talar in a home game 50-68. Union Florida managed to beat Lanus on the road 72-58.

Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains fifth place with 3-3 record. Rocamora lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with six games lost. El Talar will meet at home higher ranked Berazategui (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rocamora will play against Lanus and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
