LDD Round 42 (Regular Season): Obras are upset by Obera

The Regular Season in LDD is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 4 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most important game in the last round took place in Obera between second ranked Obras (28-5) and seventh ranked Obera (21-10) on Sunday night. Obras was crushed by Obera on the road 82-58. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Obras. They outrebounded Obras 50-37 including 36 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was swingman Drazen Sinigoj (192-2005) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Paraguayan power forward Hugo Caballero (190-2004) chipped in 17 points. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Valentino Finetti (204-2005) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Obera moved-up to sixth place. Obras at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Important game to mention about took place in Zarate. Seventeenth ranked Zarate (8-25) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 18th ranked Quimsa (6-29) 81-80 in the game for the seventeenth place. It was a good game for Tomas Delia who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Gino Sciamanna contributed with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Matias Pikaluk (188-2006) replied with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds for Quimsa. Zarate maintains seventeenth position with 8-25 record. Quimsa lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighteenth place with 29 games lost. Zarate will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Quimsa will play at home against Atenas (#20) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Seventeenth-ranked Zarate (8-25) made lots of trouble for thirteenth ranked San Lorenzo (14-17) on Sunday. The visitors from Almagra managed to secure only three-point victory 83-80. However their fans expected much easier game. Valentino Nesci had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Tomas Delia with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. San Lorenzo maintains thirteenth position with 14-17 record. Loser Zarate keeps the seventeenth place with 25 games lost. San Lorenzo will meet Gimnasia (#19) in the next round where they are favorite. Zarate will have a break next round.

Rest of the games of round 42 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Olimpico was crushed by Boca Jrs. in Buenos Aires 98-66. Instituto smashed La Union at home 80-55. Argentino was destroyed by Regatas on the opponent's court 88-53. Penarol was outscored by Ferro in a home game 59-83. Olimpico was rolled over Platense on the road 79-54. Riachuelo defeated Atenas on its own court 86-76. Argentino was smashed by San Martin in Corrientes 87-63.

Zarate - Quimsa 81-80

Important game to mention about took place in Zarate. Seventeenth ranked Zarate (8-25) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 18th ranked Quimsa (6-29) 81-80 in the game for the seventeenth place. Quimsa was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Tomas Delia who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Gino Sciamanna contributed with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Boca Jrs. outrebounded Olimpico 53-35 including 39 on the defensive glass. Boca Jrs. looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Fidel Cifuentes had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Tiziano Prome (201-2005) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five Boca Jrs players scored in double figures. Boca Jrs' coach Gianluca Brignardello felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Enzo Facelli (-2003) with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Luciano Tundis scored 20 points. Boca Jrs have an impressive six-game winning streak. Boca Jrs. moved-up to tenth place. Olimpico lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with 24 games lost. Instituto dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to La Union's 20. Instituto forced 25 La Union turnovers and outrebounded them 46-28 including 33 on the defensive glass. Instituto looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Guard Fausto Moussa (198-2004) had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Bautista Corsi chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Instituto's coach Ignacio Giambartolomei felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Augusto Moresco with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and Thiago Gronda scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Instituto have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain ninth position with 19-10 record. La Union lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with 15 games lost. Instituto will meet higher ranked Riachuelo (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. La Union will play against Argentino (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Regatas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Argentino's players. Forward Francisco Ferraro (196-2004) scored 17 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Ignacio Ortega (205-2004) chipped in 11 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Regatas' coach Diego Checenelli felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Nicolas Schettino with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and guard Augusto Gennero (188-2003) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Regatas maintains third position with 26-6 record having five points less than leader Independ.O. Loser Argentino keeps the twelfth place with 18 games lost.
