The Regular Season in LDB just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most important game of round 1 took place in Buenos Aires where Boca Jrs beat Racing Ch. 77-72 on Tuesday night. Boca Jrs. outrebounded Racing Ch. 50-36 including a 41-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Tiago Drocezesky (193-2005) stepped up and scored 28 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Thiago Arguero chipped in 22 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side Tomas Delia responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Racing Ch. will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest. Boca Jrs will try to continue on its current victory against San Martin in Corrientes.
Ferro recorded a loss in Florida. Visitors were edged by Platense 73-71. Swingman Mariano Goicoechea (195-2004) nailed 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and Joaquin Goncalves accounted for 20 points. Guard Camilo Rodriguez (187-2006) came up with 20 points and 6 rebounds for Ferro in the defeat. Ferro's coach Juan Di Gilio tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Platense will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ferro will play at home against Penarol to get more than just one victory in their record.
A very close game took place in Corrientes between Atenas and San Martin. Atenas got a very close victory on the road over San Martin. Atenas managed to escape with a 1-point win 79-78 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Tiago Tomatis fired a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Leonel Nunez produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 20 rebounds for lost side. San Martin's coach Gustavo Mascaro let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Atenas will meet Regatas in the next round. San Martin will play against Boca Jrs. in Buenos Aires and hope to win that game.
There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 1: Regatas lost to La Union on the opponent's court 66-80. Quimsa lost to undefeated Instituto in a home game 61-85. Penarol lost to San Lorenzo on the road 54-63. Olimpico lost to Instituto on its own court 47-83.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by Lucas Andersson of Instituto.
