Undefeated leader Instituto delivered the eighth consecutive win on Thursday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Gimnasia CR (4-2) 67-56 in Cordoba. Instituto dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Gimnasia CR's 26. They outrebounded Gimnasia 44-25 including a 36-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was who scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds. Instituto's coach Ignacio Giambartolomei used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard Jose Copesky (184-2006) produced 17 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Undefeated Instituto (8-0) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row. Gimnasia at the other side keeps the sixth place with two games lost.
Important game to mention about took place in Santa Fe. Sixteenth ranked Union (2-4) saved a 1-point victory at home edging higher ranked Platense (2-2) 94-93 on Friday evening. saved the victory by scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Pedro Spajic contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Santino Mazzucchelli (196-2004) replied with 24 points for Platense. Union moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Penarol. Platense at the other side keeps the eleventh position with two games lost. Union will play against higher ranked Boca Jrs. (#10) in Buenos Aires in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Platense will have a break next round.
The game with biggest result difference took place in La Banda. Local Olimpico (1-5) was outscored by twelfth ranked Racing Ch. (3-3) 88-46 on Thursday night. Worth to mention a quality performance of Tomas Delia who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Gonzalo Ballarin responded with 6 points and 11 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Racing Ch. moved-up to eighth place. Loser Olimpico dropped to the seventeenth position with five games lost. Racing Ch. will meet higher ranked San Lorenzo (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
