La Liga Proximo Round 8 (Regular Season): Leader Instituto gets another victory

There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in LDB. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Undefeated leader Instituto delivered the eighth consecutive win on Thursday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Gimnasia CR (4-2) 67-56 in Cordoba. Instituto dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Gimnasia CR's 26. They outrebounded Gimnasia 44-25 including a 36-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was who scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds. Instituto's coach Ignacio Giambartolomei used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard Jose Copesky (184-2006) produced 17 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Undefeated Instituto (8-0) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row. Gimnasia at the other side keeps the sixth place with two games lost.
Important game to mention about took place in Santa Fe. Sixteenth ranked Union (2-4) saved a 1-point victory at home edging higher ranked Platense (2-2) 94-93 on Friday evening. saved the victory by scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Pedro Spajic contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Santino Mazzucchelli (196-2004) replied with 24 points for Platense. Union moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Penarol. Platense at the other side keeps the eleventh position with two games lost. Union will play against higher ranked Boca Jrs. (#10) in Buenos Aires in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Platense will have a break next round.
The game with biggest result difference took place in La Banda. Local Olimpico (1-5) was outscored by twelfth ranked Racing Ch. (3-3) 88-46 on Thursday night. Worth to mention a quality performance of Tomas Delia who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Gonzalo Ballarin responded with 6 points and 11 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Racing Ch. moved-up to eighth place. Loser Olimpico dropped to the seventeenth position with five games lost. Racing Ch. will meet higher ranked San Lorenzo (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Olimpico will play against Independ.O. (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rest of the games of round 8 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Argentino defeated Obera in Junin 68-55. La Union smashed Argentino at home 91-67. Gimnasia won against Atenas on the opponent's court 83-71.

There was no surprise when 15th ranked Obera (1-3) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Argentino (3-4) 68-55 on Wednesday. Worth to mention a great performance of who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and who added 11 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Five Argentino players scored in double figures. Guard Albano Costa (192-2006) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Tobias Reizner produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds. Despite that victory Argentino went down to ninth position due to points difference, which they share with Boca Jrs. Loser Obera dropped to the sixteenth place with three games lost. Argentino will meet bottom-ranked San Martin (#19) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Obera will play against Atenas in Cordoba and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

No shocking result in a game in Formosa where third ranked La Union (6-2) smashed 8th ranked Argentino (3-4) 91-67 on Friday. La Union made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Franco Gimenez (190) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds and Augusto Moresco who added 17 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Five La Union players scored in double figures. Coach Felix Medina's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tomas Delia responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and scored 9 points and 10 rebounds. La Union maintains third position with 6-2 record having just five point less than leader Instituto. Loser Argentino dropped to the ninth place with four games lost. They share the position with Boca Jrs.. La Union will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Argentino will play against San Martin (#19) in Corrientes and hope to secure a win.
