American Forward Al Thornton (203-F-1983, agency: BIG) had a great game in the last round for Penarol Mar del Plata, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 14.
The 42-year old player was the main contributor (18 points, six rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Platense (#16, 3-4) 89-88. Penarol is placed at 3rd position in Argentinian La Liga. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Penarol will need more victories to improve their 7-3 record. Thornton turned to be Penarol's top player in his first season with the team. Al Thornton averages this season 13.1ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Richard Granberry (203-F-1993) of Ciclista Olimpico de La Banda. Granberry had a very good evening with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Olimpico lost that game 76-82 to the higher-ranked La Union (#1, 8-4). Despite lost game Olimpico moved up to 14th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-7 record. Granberry is a newcomer at Olimpico, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Nakye Sanders (202-F-1997) of Atenas Cordoba (#15). Sanders scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds (!!!). Despite Sanders' great performance the Atenas lost 76-78 to the higher-ranked Ferro (#2, 7-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Atenas not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 9 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Sanders could try to bring Atenas' a little bit higher in the standings. Sanders has a very solid season. In 13 games in Argentina he scored 9.8ppg. He also has 6.4rpg, 1.2bpg and a FGP of 68.4%.
