It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Independ.O.. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Ty Sabin (190-1994, college: Ripon) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and Marcos Delia who added 12 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side responded with 21 points. Independ.O.'s coach Martin Gonzalez tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Obras have a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory Obras went down to fourth position due to points difference, which they share with Penarol. Independ.O. at the other side dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. Obras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Independ.O. will play on the road against Atenas (#16) in Cordoba and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Obras (7-4) against fifth ranked Instituto (8-6) on Sunday night. Visiting Obras was defeated by Instituto in a tough game in Cordoba 71-79. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Obras. The winners were led by Keylan Boone who scored that evening 17 points and 6 rebounds. Even 17 points and 5 assists by Juan Brussino did not help to save the game for Obras. Instituto moved-up to third place. Loser Obras dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Penarol. Instituto will meet Obera (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Obras will have a break next round.

In the last two games of round 16 Boca Juniors beat Quimsa on the road 71-61. Penarol lost to Obera on its own court 71-87.




Quimsa - Boca Juniors 61-71

No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Boca Juniors (7-6) beat 12th ranked Quimsa (5-6) in Santiado del Estero 71-61 on Friday. The winners were led by Francisco Caffaro who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and the former international point guard Lucas Faggiano (188-1989, college: LIU Brooklyn) supported him with 16 points and 4 assists. Even 11 points and 8 rebounds by the former international Leonardo Lema (203-1998) did not help to save the game for Quimsa. American Brandon Robinson (196-1989, college: Clayton St.) added 11 points for lost side. Quimsa's coach Leandro Ramella let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place. Loser Quimsa keeps the twelfth position with six games lost. Boca Juniors will meet at home bottom-ranked Argentino (#19) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Quimsa will have a break next round.
