Argentinian La Liga round 17 best performance: Facundo Rutenberg

Forward Facundo Rutenberg (195-F-2001) put on an amazing game in the last round for San Lorenzo de Almagro, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 24-year old player had a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat Union SF (#15, 5-8) 80-75. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. San Lorenzo is placed at 14th position in Argentinian La Liga. San Lorenzo is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 5-7 record. Rutenberg turned to be San Lorenzo's top player in his first season with the team. Facundo Rutenberg has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 17.8ppg) and averages impressive 56.6% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Emiliano Lezcano (187-PG-2001) of league's leader Ferrocarril Oeste Buenos Aires. Lezcano had a very good evening with 27 points. Third on the list of top players last round was Italian guard Gaston Whelan (187-PG-1994) of Instituto Atletico Central Cordoba (#6). Whelan scored 19 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Despite Whelan's great performance the Instituto lost 59-65 to slightly lower-ranked Obera (#7, 7-4). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Instituto needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 8 victories and 8 lost games. Whelan has a very solid season. In 16 games in Argentina he scored 11.3ppg. Gaston Whelan has also Argentinian passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.
