Bryan Carabali claims Argentinian La Liga Hoops Agents weekly honour

Ecuadorian Bryan Carabali (214-C-1999) had a very impressive game in the last round for Gimnasia y Esgrima Comodoro Rivadavia and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 35.
The 26-year old center had a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds, while his team edged out Racing Ch. (#18, 7-18) 77-74. Gimnasia maintains the 8th position in Argentinian La Liga. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Gimnasia will need more victories to improve their 15-11 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Carabali as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Bryan Carabali averages this season 7.0ppg and 5.8rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Italian center Gonzalo Bressan (205-C-2001) of Ciclista Olimpico de La Banda. Bressan impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Olimpico was edged by the higher-ranked Boca Juniors (#11, 12-12) 81-77. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Olimpico dropped in the standings to 14th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 11-16 record. Bressan is a newcomer at Olimpico and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Theo Akwuba (210-C/F-2000) of Union de Santa Fe (#13). Akwuba scored 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds (!!!). Despite Akwuba's great performance the Union lost 69-76 to the lower-ranked Atenas (#17, 9-16). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Union ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 12 games, recording just eleven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Akwuba could help Union SF to bring them higher in the standings. Akwuba has a very solid season. In 3 games in Argentina he scored 15.7ppg.
